RFID Smart Keyfob Tag at 13.56 MHz — compatible with NFC-enabled phones, tablets, and RFID readers/writers. Waterproof ABS housing, 1KB MIFARE-style memory, read range up to 50 mm. Ideal for Arduino and ESP32 access control projects.
The 13.56 MHz RFID Smart Keyfob Tag is a compact, passive RFID/NFC token designed to work with 13.56 MHz readers such as the popular MFRC-522 module, as well as NFC-capable smartphones and tablets. Operating at the globally standardised ISO 14443 frequency, it requires no battery — energy is harvested wirelessly from the reader's RF field. Its blue, waterproof ABS housing makes it a practical choice for everyday carry or outdoor installations.
Key Features
- Resonance Frequency: 13.56 MHz → compatible with the widest range of NFC readers, smartphones, and RFID modules (e.g., MFRC-522)
- Read Range: 0 – 50 mm → close-coupling design ensures secure, intentional reads with minimal risk of accidental triggering
- Memory: 16 sectors × 4 blocks × 16 bytes (1 KB total) → enough space to store UID, access keys, and custom payload data for most maker projects
- Write Endurance: 100,000 cycles → suitable for high-frequency update applications such as loyalty counters or dynamic access tokens
- Material: ABS, Waterproof → durable for keychain use, light outdoor exposure, or integration into enclosures
- Operating Temperature: -10 °C to +50 °C → covers typical indoor and mild outdoor environments
- Dimensions: 40 × 32 × 4 mm → standard keyfob form factor, easy to attach to a keyring
Compatibility
- Arduino UNO / Nano / Mega: use with an MFRC-522 reader module (SPI interface, 3.3 V logic — level-shift the SPI lines when running the Arduino at 5 V)
- ESP32 / ESP8266: native 3.3 V logic matches the MFRC-522 directly; read/write via SPI using the MFRC522 Arduino library
- Raspberry Pi: works via SPI with appropriate Python libraries (e.g., MFRC522-python)
- NFC Smartphones & Tablets: readable and writable with any NFC-enabled Android or iOS device using apps such as NFC Tools
Typical Applications
- DIY access control: pair with an MFRC-522 and Arduino to build a door lock that grants entry only to registered keyfobs
- Automation triggers: tap the keyfob to your NFC phone to launch shortcuts — silence ringer, set an alarm, toggle smart-home scenes
- Attendance & time-tracking systems: log keyfob UIDs with timestamps using an ESP32 and cloud backend
- Asset tagging: write a URL or identifier to the tag and embed it in equipment for tool-tracking workflows
- Student lab projects: learn RFID communication protocols, authentication, and data encryption in a hands-on format

FAQ
Q: Does this keyfob work with the MFRC-522 breakout board?
A: Yes — both operate at 13.56 MHz. Use the MFRC522 Arduino library to read the tag's UID and read/write its 1 KB memory blocks.
Q: Can I write data to this tag with my smartphone?
A: Yes, provided your phone has NFC. Use a free app such as NFC Tools (Android/iOS) to write text, URLs, or custom records to the tag's memory.
Package Contents: 1 × 13.56 MHz RFID Smart Keyfob Tag (blue)
⚠ Note: This is a passive tag only — no reader/writer is included. An RFID reader module (e.g., MFRC-522) or NFC-enabled device is required to read or write the tag.
