Ceramic Capacitors
Ceramic Capacitors (also known as "disc" or "lentil" capacitors due to their shape) are the guardians of stability in electronic circuits. Unlike electrolytic ones, they are Non-Polarized, meaning they can be installed in any orientation.
They are essential in every digital build for:
- Decoupling: Placed next to Integrated Circuits (ICs) power pins to "clean" high-frequency noise and spikes.
- High Frequencies (RF): Due to their fast response, they are ideal for transmitters and radio frequency circuits.
- Timing: Used in conjunction with crystals (e.g., 22pF) for microcontroller operations like Arduino.
Available in a wide range of capacitance values (measured in pF and nF) and marked with standard codes (e.g., 104, 103).
