The ESP32-C3-MINI-1 development board is based on the 32-bit RISC-V (Single-Core) microcontroller architecture, operating at up to 160MHz. It provides simultaneous support for Wi-Fi 4 (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth 5.0 (LE / Mesh). Equipped with 4MB of embedded Flash and 400KB of SRAM, it is fully compatible with Arduino IDE, ESP-IDF, MicroPython, and ESPHome. It serves as a foundational component for IoT networks and sensor deployment. WARNING: All GPIO pins operate strictly at a 3.3V logic level.

Technical Specifications and Capabilities of the ESP32-C3

The ESP32-C3-MINI-1 module integrates a 32-bit RISC-V architecture, delivering solid computational performance with low power consumption. It is engineered for industrial and residential Internet of Things applications, combining multiple wireless protocols and adequate memory resources into a compact form factor.

  • Processor & Memory: Single-core RISC-V clocked at 160 MHz. It features 400KB of SRAM (with 16KB dedicated to cache), 384KB ROM, and 4MB of embedded Flash memory.
  • Wi-Fi 4 Connectivity: Supports the IEEE 802.11 b/g/n protocol (2.4 GHz) with 20MHz and 40MHz bandwidths. Capable of data rates up to 150Mbps (1T1R). It supports Station mode, SoftAP, Station+SoftAP hybrid mode, Frame aggregation (TX/RX A-MPDU, A-MSDU), and 802.11 Mc FTM.
  • Bluetooth (BLE) Connectivity: Supports Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth 5.0) and Bluetooth Mesh. Provides transmission rates of 125Kbps, 500Kbps, 1Mbps, and 2Mbps, alongside Advertising Extensions and Channel Selection Algorithm #2.

Limitations & Usage Warnings

  • 3.3V Logic Level: The board's I/O pins are not 5V-tolerant. If interfacing with 5V peripherals or older sensors is required, utilizing a Logic Level Converter is mandatory to prevent hardware failure.

Frequently Asked Questions (Q&A)

Q: Is this board natively supported by Home Assistant?
A: Yes, the ESP32-C3 architecture is natively supported by ESPHome. The inclusion of Bluetooth 5.0 (LE) makes this board an excellent candidate for operating as a "Bluetooth Proxy", extending your smart home hub's range for detecting BLE sensors.

Q: Which development environments (IDEs) are supported?
A: The board can be programmed using the standard ESP32 core via the Arduino IDE, the Espressif IoT Development Framework (ESP-IDF), and MicroPython, ensuring compatibility with most existing codebases and libraries.
