The ELECFREAKS IOT:bit is a powerful expansion board that connects your micro:bit to the internet! Featuring a built-in ESP8266 Wi-Fi module and a Real-Time Clock (RTC), it empowers students to send sensor data directly to the cloud (IoT platforms), create smart home automations, and easily connect dozens of electronic modules using the highly convenient GVS ports.

Transform your micro:bit into a full-fledged IoT node! The ELECFREAKS IOT:bit Breakout Board opens up new horizons in STEM education, allowing wireless communication with platforms like SmartIoT, ThingSpeak, or KidsIoT. It is the perfect foundation for building "smart home" systems, weather stations, and remote monitoring devices.

In addition to Wi-Fi connectivity, the board breaks out the micro:bit's ports into the GVS (Ground, VCC, Signal) format, making sensor connection (Octopus series) completely Plug & Play, without the need for complex breadboard circuits. The integrated clock circuit guarantees accurate timing for all your data logging needs!

Key Features & Specifications

  • Compatibility: Designed to work flawlessly with both micro:bit V1 and V2 boards.
  • Wi-Fi Connectivity: Features a built-in ESP8266 Wi-Fi module (Serial port communication) for instant internet access and cloud data transmission.
  • Real-Time Clock (RTC): Integrated DS1307 chip with a CR1220 battery holder to keep the exact time and date even when the main power is disconnected.
  • GVS Interface: All useful IO ports are led out in a 3-pin layout (GVS) for easy connection of sensors and servos, alongside an independent I2C interface.
  • Built-in Audio: Equipped with an on-board Buzzer and an Earphone jack.
  • Power Supply: Can be powered via the IOT:bit's USB port with a maximum driving current of 800mA (recommended when driving multiple components).
