The BF180 is a classic NPN silicon transistor designed for UHF front-end applications. Its integrated shield can (4th lead bonded to the case) provides excellent noise rejection, making it the preferred choice for TV tuner preamplifiers and sensitive RF mixers operating in the UHF band.
