The construction can be used in the 2nd grade electricity unit (as a visual aid for the relay) as well as in the mechanics unit, by connecting a 9V battery to the connectors.

It can also be connected to the output of the electronic circuits of the middle school and high school.

By connecting appropriate sensors students can solve problems such as:

  1. The wipers of a car are activated when it rains.
  2. A car's wipers are activated when it rains or when a switch is in the ON position.
  3. A car's wipers are activated when it rains or for as long as a pushbutton switch is pressed.

*When a command is given to stop the mechanism, the wipers return to the idle position.
