LEDs or light-emitting diodes are small electronic components. When an electrical voltage is applied to the LEDs, they emit light in different colours, such as red, green or blue. If the current passing through the diode is too high, it may damage the LED.
To limit the current passing through the diode, the usual practice is to add a resistor to the circuit
